Which cookware to use?

The best cookware is Clay-ware or Earthen-ware. Cooking food in clayware is a way of connecting to nature since it is the purest form of earth. The Indian tradition has made use of clayware for hundreds of years.

It has many benefits over metal utensils :

1. Clay is porous in nature, it allows moisture and heat to circulate through your food, and thus, retain its nutrition. Moreover, some clay gets mixed with the food and adds to its nutrition. While metal heats food very quickly killing most of its nutrition.
2. Food cooked in a clay pot tastes much better.
3. Clay pots are inexpensive and are easily available in local Indian markets, or online.

The second best option is stainless steel utensils.

The third best option is ceramic-ware. It is better than stainless steel but is very expensive. If you can afford it, go for it!

The worst kind of cookware is Aluminum. If you have aluminum vessels in your house, we highly insist you trash them right away and switch to the above alternatives. Aluminum is toxic in nature. It easily dissolves into food when heated. You can validate this fact by doing an experiment - Weight a new aluminum pot today. After 3 months of usage, it will weigh lesser. Where did all that aluminum go? it entered our and our families' bodies, causing significant damage to the organs.

We understand that Aluminum is cheap, but at the same time, it is expensive in terms of our wellness. Choose wisely.

Non-stick cookware is as harmful as Aluminum. The non-stick coating is toxic and gets easily dissolved into the food when heated.

Iron utensils should also be avoided because of the following reasons:
  • Iron is prone to rust. The oxidized rust can seep into our food making it toxic for our body.
  • It's very difficult to find pure iron nowadays.
  • It's a very heavy material, thus, difficult to handle while cooking.
