How much salt/namak can we consume?

It is best to keep your salt consumption as little as possible.

What happens if you sprinkle salt on wounds or on our skin? it burns and pains. Similarly, when we eat salt, our internal body suffers even though we do not feel it.

Moreover, salt leaches out the water from our bodies, making us dehydrated.

Our bodies do need salt for their internal functioning. However, that requirement is easily fulfilled by eating vegetables such as spinach, coriander, celery. They have their natural salt. Try it for yourself- Quit salt for a few days. You will start to taste it in vegetables like radish, turnip, and spinach.

Now, we do understand that it is not possible to completely quit salt because we are too habituated to its taste. Hence, we recommend that you add it sparingly to your food. Avoid it whenever possible (never add to your juice or sprinkle it on your salads & fruits).

Never use commercial salt, as it usually has an excess of iodine which is not good for the body. Only use rock salt (sendha namak) or pink Himalayan salt.
